Do Not Disturb

Once again the Little Black Gallery in London is set to host an exhibition by photographer Anja Niemi, who has already been hailed “one to watch” by Art & Auction. Her latest series entitled “Do Not Disturb” sees the artists relationship with interiors develop further, this time with hotel room interiors.

Anja aims to explore the personal yet impersonal nature that hotel rooms offer, showing that a hotel room is in itself a paradox, asking guests to feel at home, but not at home.

She set off from her home town in Norway, leaving behind her partner, her children and her life in one of the worlds most safest countries, to travel and explore the ideas that hotel room interiors can hold with just a suitcase full of borrowed garments and her camera.

She never discloses any of the locations of the rooms or hotels to add to the anonymity of the whole set of images, entitling each photo with just a room number.
