Hurricane Miranda sweeps through Pepe Jeans

Designer, blogger, and DJ. That’s Miranda Makaroff, the Spanish ‘It girl’ of the moment who provided the soundtrack for the opening of our Custom Studio in Madrid a couple of weeks ago and offered us a fantastic, highly original photo shoot with inspiring authenticity.

We’ve been hearing her name float about the blogosphere and in the fashion world for a couple of years now. Her fun, devil-may-care, creative and unique style is the reason why this top blogger, daughter of designer Lydia Delgado and singer Sergio Makaroff, has managed to captivate us with her unusual universe. She’s Spain’s current ‘It girl’ and her blog hermanasmiranda is among one of the most visited on the Internet. And now we see why she’s making an impact wherever she goes.
But why does the Makaroff universe fascinate us so much? Is it because of her blonde mane of hair, her uninhibited attitude or her carefree, extreme looks that work so well? We’re not sure, but she certainly knows how to impress.

A few weeks ago we had the honour of having Miranda at the opening party for our new Custom Studio in Madrid. The It girl and her current partner, Pascal Moscheni, who is also a DJ, were in charge of the music. The two were given the task of making us shake our stuff during the event and, needless to say, they were one of the first to check out the star feature of the night, our customisation machine. Miranda wanted to check out the wonders of our customisation service, and personalised three pieces from our Autumn Winter 2013 collection, available at our Pepe Jeans store on Claudio Coello street in Madrid. Have you seen the result? She’s got no shortage of talent, that’s for sure!

Making of 1

Hurricane Miranda makes an impact wherever she goes and she left behind some fantastic photos here at Pepe Jeans. But if I had to highlight one thing that we took away from our evening with the “It girl” of the moment, it would be that we shouldn’t fear fashion, we should just totally abandon ourselves to it!

Barcelona welcomes its new Custom Studio with the #PepeExperience

Barcelona has been looking forward to celebrating the opening of the new Pepe Jeans store in Provença street for a while now.  And the time has finally come! The #PepeExperience hit the city last week  and it was fantastic to be able celebrate the opening of this new space that forms part of the “New Concept Store” the firm has recently started to introduce.

The event lacked none of the essential elements we’re used to seeing at all the Pepe parties – fashion, music, and art brought together again to recreate the brand’s stamp of identity.  Guests had a chance to check out the novelties of this autumn-winter season while they sipped on the delicious cocktails we prepared for them. And our DJ did a fantastic job of creating a big party atmosphere.

But the big attraction of the night was undoubtedly our Custom Studio. There in the shop window, surrounded by denim and admired by all, our customising machine basked in the limelight, the true star of the #PepeExperience night. A gem that very few Pepe Jeans stores are lucky enough to have. Customers were free to personalise any denim garment they wished with laser prints, details or drawings with colour paint; they could add buttons or studs and even distress the garment. As well as having a multitude of ways to personalise your purchases, we also offer you the advice of our denim expert, who will guide you in your choice.

The new store concept is accompanied by a new minimalist idea, with references to the famous Portobello Market. When you go into the changing rooms you’ll see that the doors are just as colourful as those in the legendary London location!

And we have to mention the artistic spirit contained within these walls, all thanks to the fantastic murals made in denim and hand-painted by British artist Pam Glew, who created them especially for us.

“Warholandy”, the corner dedicated to the immensely popular Andy Warhol collection, was particularly buzzy, no doubt because of the magnificent garments inspired by the artist’s famous prints and photographs. And what do you think of the counter? It’s the business! As you already know, we’re huge music fans here at Pepe Jeans, and just so that the whole world knows it, we converted it into an enormous musical sound system!

We’re already eagerly awaiting the next #PepeExperience. See you soon!

Pepe Jeans celebrates its 40th anniversary in Milan

The celebrations continue at Pepe Jeans and this time the city hosting our #PepeTurns40 event was Milan.

Last week we went to Italy to celebrate our 40th anniversary again, with an event that reunited fashion, music and style once more. To help us celebrate it we had the help of the best guests possible. Fashion Bla Bla, Camilla’s Secrets, Dot Girl, Ugly Truth, No Mas Style, Blonde Suite, Wild Flower Girl Style and Blue Nail Girl were our star guests and the result, needless to say, was a sweet and perfect afternoon party!

Our guests had a chance to enjoy the magnificent garments Pepe Jeans had prepared for them for this Autumn-Winter 2013 season. And not only did they get a close-up look at what #FollowPepe has to offer but they also got to try on their favourite items and adapt them to their own style!

Tartan, the print for this Autumn-Winter

Winter is drawing near and with it come new trends. Many of these have been languishing in our wardrobes for years, longing to be set free for another season to relive their former glory. This is the case with tartan. It brings flashes of bygone eras, harking back to the 90s, when one fine day we launched ourselves into the grunge aesthetic to the sound of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. It may also bring to mind the official attire of Scotland, the origin of the tartan print.

Leaving aside the dark age and its Scottish origins, tartan has hit the catwalks and is gracing the shop windows of the top fashion brands this season.

The trend is now back stronger than ever and promises to be one of the favourites for this autumn-winter season. How has it made its comeback? In countless ways! We’ll see it alongside flowers, in chocolate colour, in its original red and black and in green. And if you think it only applies to clothing, then you’re mistaken. Footwear too will be decked out in tartan. And the key to wearing it to perfection? Avoid overkill!

We’ve become big fans of the trend here at Pepe Jeans and recommend check shirts if you want to show off your tartan in true Kurt Cobain style. But if you’d rather draw your inspiration from Alicia Silverstone in “Clueless”, then our Laurel mini skirt is just what you want!

Dare flaunt the tartan print in all its forms?

The unstoppable Vettel draws ever closer to his fourth world title with his win in Singapore

Sebastian Vettel was back on the podium again last Sunday to occupy a more than deserved pole position in the F1™ Grand Prix in Singapore, securing his lead over the Spanish Fernando Alonso and taking another step closer to his fourth world championship.

The race got off to a strong start and was without incident, with Fernando Alonso starting seventh and quickly climbing up to third, just behind German Nico Rosberg. Mercedes tried to get ahead of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing car, but after a brief exchange of positions at the first corners, Vettel quickly managed to regain his position.

Alonso’s strong start gave him an advantage over rival Vettel, but despite his almost perfect race and successful tyre management, it wasn’t enough to snatch victory from the unstoppable German. The Singapore Grand Prix finally finished with the three greats on the podium, Vettel, Alonso and Raikkonen. This win brings the Infiniti Red Bull Racing tally to 247 points and strengthens its position in its bid for the world championship title.

Red Bull’s superiority is clear; with just six races left until the championship final it has managed to distance itself even further from its rival and has defended the team colours brilliantly.

We’re so proud to be part of this! Congratulations!

Crystal Fighters at the #S1ngular Music Festival in Barcelona

Barcelona was the latest city to host the #S1ngular Music Festival and, as expected, it couldn’t have been better, with Crystal Fighters seizing the stage and creating an unbeatable atmosphere.

The evening got off to a flying start, with support band Belako opening up. From the moment they stepped on stage, Barcelona surrendered to their sound. They sounded fresh, with no shortage of attitude, and all eyes were glued to the stage. They were ace!

While Belako entertained us with their post-punk sound from the Basque Country, Pepe Jeans gave attendees the chance to immortalise their favourite moment of the night, by sharing their photos on Instagram with the #S1ngular hashtag and then going up to the print stands where they were offered a printed, polaroid-style photo! But that wasn’t the only surprise of the night. They also got a chance to meet Crystal Fighters and to get a special look from our 40th Anniversary capsule collection. To win this double prize all they had to do was to accumulate the highest number of ‘Likes’ for the photo of the concert they uploaded to Instagram with the #s1ngular hashtag. And who was the lucky winner, you wonder? It was Pep Lizana, who got to meet the band in person! Take a look.

But the best was yet to come. Belako had gotten the audience well warmed up, and they set a pretty high standard by all means. The most anticipated moment of the night finally arrived, the British band Crystal Fighters came onstage and treated us to almost two hours of pure adrenaline, excitement and indie rock.  They certainly wowed us with their passionate attitude, unusual folk sound with its characteristic Basque influences and their fantastic stage presence. Everybody immediately felt that the festival was well-deserving of its name; it was the most #S1ngular night of the year!

Vettel wins in Italy and is one step closer to his fourth world championship title

We return to the world of F1™ with a victory by the Red Bull Racing team!

Sebastian Vettel made history once again on Sunday at the Italian Grand Prix. The German driver achieved his sixth win of the year with a spectacular display at the Monza circuit, beating Fernando Alonso and increasing his advantage as leader of the World Championship, placing him 53 points ahead of Ferrari’s Spaniard. Webber completed the podium by finishing in third place.

The race looked to be hard-fought from the beginning, with Vettel starting from the pole position and Alonso in fifth place but quickly managing to win second place. Despite his efforts, however, the Spanish driver was unable to overtake his opponent.

With the triumph of the Red Bull Racing team, Vettel secures win number 32 in F1™, and the Red Bull Racing team becomes increasingly hard to beat. But everything is possible in F1™, and there are still a lot of races to go. One thing is certain though, that Sebastian Vettel is closer to becoming a legend as each day passes.

Congrats to the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team!

What you will wear to Crystal Fighters concert @ Singular Music Festival

Our date with the month of music is getting near and, of course, so is our date with fashion. The Singular Music Festival with the Crystal Fighters, along with a load of surprises, is going to be held on September 12 in Barcelona.

So you can enjoy the festival feeling comfortable and dance with style to the Crystal Fighters’ indie sound, we have chosen two looks from our new 2013 Autumn-Winter collection.

For her, we have chosen a very feminine look with a retro-style skirt as the protagonist, with a plain white T-shirt and indispensable ankle boots with buckles and metal studs, which add a really cool touch of rock to your look.

For him, we have chosen denim – it never fails! With a Union Jack T-shirt, that’s more than appropriate for this occasion and some navy blue, suede shoes, you’ll pay homage to the British style.

Now you know how to get noticed, don’t forget to take your camera so you can photograph the best moments of the S1ngular night. See you on September 12 in Barcelona!

Celebrate your “Best Birthday” with Chroma party ideas from Pepe Jeans!

We’re all about big birthdays this year at Pepe Jeans, with the current celebration of our 40th anniversary, and the birthday parties we’ve hosted for our “Best Birthday” contest winners. The 8 winners all participated in a contest we had last year by responding creatively to the question of ‘what they liked the most about our Pepe Jeans brand’, and throughout this past year, they each received a custom birthday party designed by us!

Recently, Kontantin Hölster hosted a Chroma party for his/her friends, and they all had a great time! Now we’ve listed some creative ideas for you on how to you can host your own Chroma birthday party at home, and you can recreate the fun for your own special day!

Space. If you’d like a party like Kontantin’s you have to find a suitable space so that you and your friends can do all the activities without any problems. If you can hold your party at a gym, all the better, because then you won’t have to worry about the equipment you’re going to need.

Dress for the party. For our Chroma party, there’s no need to wear jeans, dresses or any special clothing.  All you need is something comfortable, apart from a tracksuit, that will allow you to do the activities easily and with agility. Comfort is the key for this kind of party.

Decoration. If sport is the theme for your birthday party, then everything else should be related to sport too. Have a look around the party shops for any accessories you need and give your celebration the sporty touch!

Food and drink. These are the essential ingredients of any birthday party. After spending the afternoon doing somersaults, cartwheels, handstands or whatever other activity at our birthday party, a super tasty snack will be just divine!

Check out some of our pictures from Kontantin Hölster’s party and get more inspiration for your own ideas!

Thanks to all of our participants for sharing their special birthday with us, and be sure to check back with us later on more creative birthday party ideas!
