No more on-site parties!

We’ve come to a conclusion here at Pepe: no more on-site parties! Yesterday was the big opening day for Pepe’s website, so apologies for not being able to write this post earlier but the opening party left us completely wiped out! The entire Pepe team are still suffering the after effects, just look at the state of the models on our website: destroyed!

There were some familiar faces at the party… Johann, MTV Spain’s VJ, took charge of the decks (DJ) and not even the power cut during the party could stop him! His friend Ana Sofia, MTV Portugal’s VJ, gave her all and ended up shoeless at the end of the night. And Claude, you know him, you’ve seen him in our SS12 and AW12 campaign – would you ever have imagined him ending up losing his shirt?

Jade, the British singer and blogger also known as Sunday Girl, will probably have to wait a few days before uploading her other videos to YouTube; her voice is unlikely to be in top shape after sleeping on the floor after the mega party.  Chiara was in such a state that she had to cancel the casting she had yesterday.  Jöhrn, the German actor, provided us with entertainment by following Aurelia, the French blogger of “Fashion is Playground“, around all night. Did it all end in just a good friendship?

Phillippe, our online store model, gatecrashed the party and spent the whole of yesterday sleeping it off and couldn´t make it to the shoot. So, we’re still missing some of our looks at the store; but we’re working on it! And Jaime, our F1 driver, didn´t waste a second in popping the champagne and soaking us all.

You can see the video of the party here. We’ve got to leave you now, still have a lot of tidying up to do – the site is a total mess!

Not without my heels!

Summertime brings our legs out on show after half a year under cover. Now that the high summer temperatures are here, our legs are claiming the attention they deserve. So what do we need? Dresses! With their floral prints, frills, light fabrics and especially their colours, summer dresses allow you to radiate style and vitality with every step.

As well the most ‘in’ dresses this spring/summer season, here we also recommend some of our SS12 heels that will enhance and boost the power of any wardrobe, because as you know, the secret to elegance is knowing how to combine items in a way that accentuates our positive aspects. Choosing and combining fabrics, colours, and patterns is not always an easy task however, so take a look at a few ideas from Pepe Jeans.

Here are some of our tempting proposals for stepping out in style this holiday season. The coolest dresses, and heels, to help you create that perfect, light combination for the hot days ahead. Get those legs out, let them shine!

The essence of Summer with white and a touch of lace.

We all know that white dresses are a classic summer outfit, but this year, lace and crochet are the perfect compliments to this colour in the spirit of the freshness of spring and summer for 2012. Lace and crochet are sensual, romantic, and elegant, but still maintain the perfect balance between excess and simplicity.

Skirts, jackets, shirts, dresses, bags… A touch of lace to an outfit can add the vintage feel that we look for but should never abuse. The key is to add small touches to the look or concentrate it all on one piece, in order to highlight it.

Here at Pepe Jeans we opt for our clothing line inspired by the last decade; incredibly elegant, fresh, and original to bring back a vintage feel to make it ours and yours!

The “Summer Island” collection comes loaded with instant romantic flare to grab everyone’s attention as you walk through the promenade or while you sit under the soft light of a street light. Own it and make it yours!

What you will wear for… Coachella, Primavera Sound, and Eurockeenes

As is the case every year, the best music festivals bring us the first looks of summer that we should follow if we want to be the most fashionable. The trendsetters already know that, for these events, torn jeans and basic shirts simply won’t do. If you girls want to make the best choice for your festival look, you can’t miss this post!

COACHELLA (CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES)

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has become a large music festival over the years that we would all  like to go to. Yet Coachella is not just to join together music lovers, but also those bloggers who are the most impatient to show off their looks for summer for the first time and of course make us all envious.

This year, the festival happens over two complete weekends with the best music at  the moment, making it nearly impossible not to enjoy at the least 10 of these groups. Coachella began the 13th of April with bands like The Black Keys, Artic Monkeys, M83, GIRLS, etc.  It will finish this Sunday the 22nd with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Justice, Florence and the Machine, and Beirut, along many others.

The hippie looks, relaxed and calculatedly shabby are the underlying identity of this festival. Elect any look from the Bohemian Summer collection and you will be comfortable and perfectly dressed for the occasion.

PRIMAVERA SOUND (BARCELONA, SPAIN)

The festival of Primarvera Sound, one of the few independent music festivals that are very important in Spain, will be celebrated on the 30th of May until the 3rd of June in Barcelona. The best components of the Indie music, such as Rufus Wainwright, The Rapture, Beach House, Richard Hawley, Refused, Beirut, Björk or Wilco, among others, this year will attract thousands of youth from all over Europe that will give the date during this week excitement, where the fashion will fulfill their basic functionality: to combat the high temperatures of Barcelona without losing their identity and originality. We are also in support of this ode to youth and functionalism and for it we bring this look based marine strips and floral prints.

EUROCKEENES (BELFORT, FRANCE)

The Eurockeenes takes place in the peninsula of Malsaucy, close to Belfort (France) the weekend of the 29th of June until the 1st of July. The festival will be with two open air settings, one of them at  the beach with two tents and one grand sound system. The other will be surrounded by lakes and mountains. Artist like The Cure, Justice, The Kooks, Lana del Rey, Jack White, and Cypress Hill along with many others, will be performing at this festival that gets to celebrate 20 years in the making, gaining the reputation as one of the best events in France.

We have selected this country inspired look with boots and hat so that you girls enjoy the great music comfortably and stay protected from the high temperatures of summer.

If you enjoy any of these looks, be sure to  visit your closest Pepe store or check out our store online (only available in Spain), and enjoy your favourite groups with an authentic Pepe attitude!

Seeking inspiration

A few weeks ago, we presented our Pinterest profile on our Facebook page. We had a lot of fun creating our first Boards, and little by little we have been filling them up with everything that inspires us.

Some of you already follow us, but many others must be wondering… what exactly is Pinterest?

After getting an invitation (on the website itself or from a friend) you have to register. After doing so, the fun starts. You can upload content from your computer or save images and videos that you find on the Internet by clicking on the Pin it button on your browser. This button has to be installed previously on your browser and will automatically upload the content that you find and Pin onto the Board that you choose.

Boards are folders of inspirations that, as a whole, form a rich visual mural. This way, within each person’s inspirational jumble, Pinterest offers a unique, pleasant order.

It is possible to search for and follow other users or their Boards independently. You can browse, discover, and share finds from other Pinterest profiles to your own. The idea is to manage to connect with the world through those things that “inspire us”. When you run into interesting contents you can Repin them, which allows you to place inspirations that other users pinned at some time onto your own mural.

At Pepe Jeans we wanted to create a Pinterest profile that was different from those of other brands. We want to tell the brand’s story through images of our icons, London landscapes, Pepe boys and Pepe girls and, of course, showing the different inspirations of our collections, which will fill your closet with style and a true Pepe attitude… everything has a place in our Pinterest profile!

080 Fashion Barcelona, 9th Edition

With all its music festivals, trendy events and fashion fairs, Barcelona keeps up its reputation as one of the coolest cities in Europe. For this reason 080 Barcelona Fashion is coming back once more to the city – from the 25th to the 28th of January, for its ninth edition.

The best part of this latest Edition is the O80 T-Shirt Contest, a competition for students and alumni from fashion schools, which will be produced from now on as part of 080 Barcelona Fashion’s own merchandising products. But most importantly, will spotlight the works of the youngest and most creative designers in the Catalan scene allowing them to take their first steps into the fashion industry. A big good luck to all of them!

A Shaded View on Fashion Film

After Tokyo, New York, Milan, London, and Moscow, the travelling festival A Shaded View on Fashion Film will reach Barcelona on the 24th to the 27th of January, a festival dedicated entirely to film and fashion. Its founder, fashion critic and journalist Diane Pernet, considered a fashion guru, created it 4 years ago, inspired by her blog with the same name, one of the most influential and highly-appreciated in this sector.

ASVOFF is based on the idea that fashion has always been associated with a static image— that is to say, photography—and has almost never given importance to the image in movement, in the cinema, “although some great campaigns have been created.” So ASVOFF was born to fill this empty spot, and to promote the role of film as a medium also offering many possibilities in the area of fashion.

The festival is made up of 2 sections, an official section and a competitive one. The first is a selection organised by Diane herself, of the best short films presented previously in ASVOFF, among them two documentaries by Mike Figgis (one on Viviene Westwood and The Four Dreams of Miss X, starring Kate Moss); Lust, Lust, by Martins Grauds (winner in three categories in the Paris event in 2010); City Limits, by Kris Moyes; Glen Luchford with Tilda Swinton, by Glen Luchford; and Valentino Masters of Style, by Madeleine Czigler.

The second section, as the name itself suggests, is a competition that is divided into 3 categories: Official, Students, and Mobile. For this one, the subject of inspiration is “the muse” in two senses: “the muse” – for the official competition – and “to amuse” – for students.
Mobile turns out to be the big novelty of this first edition of the festival in Barcelona, where an award will be given for the best short film made with a mobile device.

Fairy God Fashion Mother

Take a second to think about how everything you are wearing at this moment in time started out as a flat piece of card or paper, these patterns are marked with notches, darts and seams as well as a long list of instructions about how to construct just the one singular garment.

One such artist who really appreciates the craftsmanship that goes into creating these inevitable 3D forms is Hormazd Narielwalla, who has launched his exhibition at The Modern Pantry titled: Fairy God Fashion Mother. The exhibition consists of images created using these pattern pieces to create various silhouettes and figures all inspired by fashion curator Diane Pernet. Narielwalla has gathered patterns from various sources ranging from original victorian pattern making books to patterns from deceased customers at Savile Row.
These combinations of pattern pieces come together to create an eclectic collection of fashion silhouettes, using negative spaces and technical lines to create something new.

So head on down to The Modern Pantry in London before the 7th of January and check out this amazing exhibition as well as grabbing a spot of lunch or a tasty treat from the Café!
